Its officially for his birthday ... I sent him a link to a copy I put up in my webspace
But yes, it might end up in the book!

"My name is Valerius." Valerius straightened his coat with a regal, arrogant jerk. "And I do take offense to him." (Sherrilyn Kenyon, "Night Embrace")
Its actually based on a signature - John Howe's - have a look at the top of the page here: [link] - it was done as a quickie birthday present for him.
You've just given me a whole wonderful new idea though - I love love Arabic writing, I've been trying to learn Arabic on and off for years, mainly because I wanted to be able to write it (!) - I wonder what Arabic words would convert into dragons ...

Oh, I never realized it was John Howe this was addressed to!
I think nearly every Arabic word can be turned into a dragon. Arabic writing is the most flexible there is, because in essence it doesn't have to be perfectly legible, and the letter shapes can be manipulated outrageously. I've been having fun with square Kufi, check out these examples: [link] this is my name turned into a tile, and [link] these are two treatments of the same word. Curves allow for even more flexibility. My friend posted this today [link] where you can see a very funky script called Sini (Chinese) that may inspire you. The only problem is, if you'r enot familiar with the script, you won't know what liberties you can take with it...
At any rate, if you need help, feel free to ask
That's awesome, man! It's so stylized and everything!
Bravo!
