I feel I should describe what these things are again. They are based on a series of books by Jacqueline Carey, the Kushiel series (Kushiel's Dart, Kushiel's Avatar, Kushiel's Chosen). In the books, one of the main centres of activity is the Night Court, a series of 13 Houses of cortisans. Each House has a different canon and a different motto. So, no, I won't be doing fritillary, or daisy, or whatever else. Only the 13 Houses. Though actually I'm remembering how much I like drawing flowers, so you never know ... Anyway, this is Heliotrope, the House of devotion and love, whose canon is "thou, and no other". I love heliotrope ("cherry pie"), its my favourite flower and always has been. So, I thought I'd do this as a very simple knot, symbolising unity and intertwining. And I love the result. |
