Dante Gabriel Rossetti's grave at Birchington-on-Sea, Kent. I had to go past the village today, so I stopped and bought some flowers for him. A bunch of red roses to say thank you for all the inspiration he has given so many people over the years. I don't think I'd be so interested in art if I hadn't fallen in love with Rossetti's work at an early age.
This isn't a great photo. It isn't even a very good photo. But it deserves a place here, for Dante.
A long time gone, but not forgotten. I was in my mid twenties, when I became aware of the PRB and Dante. The work of those boys has been a love affair of mine ever since. Rest in peace.

by Gay Daly? It's a fascinating book.
It's great to hear that people still give respect to these old and wonderful artists like Dante. The Pre-Raphaelite movement is one of my favourite styles for art. It's so romantic and clear, just amazing! I love it! Well done for this kind gesture.

I've been in love with the Pre-Raphaelites for a long time (my favourites are early Millais and late Burne-Jones... but that's a long story...)
Anyway, I don't believe Rossetti will ever be forgotten (unlike some of his contemporaries and friends). He produced so many beautiful, highly appealing pieces that he'll never be short of admirers.
I actually bought a copy of that book last weekend to add to my ever-growing Pre-Raphaelite shelf! I'm slogging my way through Jan Marsh's biography of Rossetti at the moment (I love her books, I've read a whole Pre-Raph ones by her) - it's wonderful but very very long!
It's a cliche, but I really think discovering the Pre-Raphaelites changed my life. It was admiring their work, all the glories of colour and pattern and beauty, that made me feel in love with art.

It's a cliche, but I really think discovering the Pre-Raphaelites changed my life. It was admiring their work, all the glories of colour and pattern and beauty, that made me feel in love with art. I was just glad to have the chance to show my gratitude, even in an insignificantly small way!
