I always knew Bryony would be one of the more difficult marques to design, after all the House is about avarice and money, not the easiest and most beautiful thing to portray! Its motto was "wealth seeks company".

So, I took a few artistic liberties. Always an easy way out of things. I chose to use black bryony, but gave the flowers much more of a yellow / red tinge than they do in real life. Made up some coin shapes, but they looked horrendous coloured as coins, and anyway I hate coins, so they got converted more into bryony-filled things.

Yes, the symmetry is a tiny bit wonky. You don't need to tell me. Take pity, I'm having a bad day!

I like the final result :D ...
although I would never think "greed, money" by looking at it ;)
Still, looks beautiful, and the symmetry is just fine :D

meh I know, but would you really want something that says you're greedy and money-grabbing on your back! Its a weird idea ><

No, but I understood the marques were graphical representations of the houses' mottos and philosophies.
Anyway, what do I know? :)

more than most people :P *grins*

and yeah, it is a bit of a cop-out. I decided to really just focus on the house flower than the house philosophy. The idea of having big pictures of gold coins or something over one's back just makes me cringe too much!

I don't know what this house you're talking about is but if you're going for a representation of greed and wealth I would suggest depiciting jewels, precious metals, grain and other indicatives of earthly pleasures and material goods. And make it look gaudy!

So, you chose the berries, given as how sometimes birds will glut themselves on bright red, yet rotten and fermenting berries to the point of incapacitation?

It's quite beautiful! As D'Angelines favor beauty over anything else, and the House marques are all about the flowers, D'Angelines already know what each House represents. I'm sure anyone traveling through the Court of the Night-Blooming Flowers that saw this representation on the House's gate-plaque would know they had come to the right place for "wagering and avarice". Money is quite the turn-on for some! This would be a lovely piece down the back of any adept of Bryony House.

Yet another lovely piece in the series!

We're done here.
Perhaps a cornucopia could be an option :)
Still, what matters is that your design is beautiful :D
